August is here, and it’s one of the best months of the year to be in the water with us! Thank you to our incredible dive community for diving with us, supporting the crew, and making every outing unforgettable. With humpback whale season now underway in Guanacaste, we’re excited for more open-water encounters and shared adventures on the horizon.

Our Creature of the Month is the Humpback Whale!
August ushers in humpback whale season here in Guanacaste. Both northern and southern populations pass through nearby waters during their migrations: northern humpbacks often move mid-year between feeding and breeding grounds, while southern humpbacks follow slightly different timing shaped by currents and food availability. Humpbacks are known for breaching, tail and pectoral slaps, and complex songs. Sightings are unforgettable.
Bat Islands has been amazing lately! We’ve been seeing lots of bull sharks on recent trips. Join us for upcoming departures on August 2nd, 5th, and 8th to experience the action firsthand.
Join Our Beach Cleanups!
We’re proud members of the Bandera Azul Ecológica (B.A.E.) Playa Potrero committee and join their beach cleanups every month to protect our coastline. Together we collect trash, document waste, and restore habitats, reminding our community that discarded trash, especially plastics, harms marine life, disrupts ecosystems, and can travel far from shore. It’s the same debris that threatens the turtles, rays, and migrating whales we love to see on our dives — which is why our Dive Against Debris program matters year-round.
Join us at the next cleanup and help keep the ocean healthy for generations to come. Make sure you watch our announcement on WhatsApp and social media for an underwater cleanup in June.
Congrats to Our New Students
Huge congratulations to our August graduates! Welcome to the dive community! Jace, Max, Kyle, and Ashley all completed their PADI Open Water certifications, and Ashley went on to finish her Advanced course as well. Jake completed his Rescue course. Fantastic work mastering new skills and exploring deeper waters.
Remember: you don’t need a certification to experience the underwater world. If you’re curious, try a Discover Scuba Diving (DSD), no prior certification required. Message us today to book a DSD or discuss your next course.
